Eve Tribune Under New ManagementThe Eve Tribune is pleased to announce that we have come under new ownership. Paying for our bandwidth isn't cheap, and with the global economic meltdown, Mr. M's herring farm just isn't bringing in the kind of cash it used to. After several months of tense negotiation, Iskbank.com has purchased us for an undisclosed sum (200 dollars). Due to the controversy regarding their customer database, Iskbank felt that they owed both their customers and the Eve player base as a whole "a little something". The Eve Tribune is proud to be that little something!
We are confident that this will be a mutually beneficial agreement. The former owner of the Eve Tribune, Mr. M, told us, "I'm kind of tired of Eve, I think a WoW news site would be cool though."
With new ownership comes now policies, this is inevitable. However we will retain our ability to speak out in whatever manner we see fit. The new changes are really quite reasonable: no articles on macro mining (the community is obviously tired of hearing about all that anyways), and all instances of the word "plex" will now be automatically replaced with RMT (we agree with our new owners that they are essentially the same thing). Further, during all future CSM elections we will refrain from offering editorial endorsements and will, instead, have our recommendations be chosen by Iskbank. After all, it's only fair that they get their vote too. There are several other policy changes regarding what writers can and cannot say that are all fairly trivial and not worth mentioning (anyone in journalism is familiar with these kinds of rules.) There were a few writers who did not share Iskbank's vision for the future of the Eve Tribune and regretfully they had to be let go.
We are also pleased to offer all Eve Tribune readers an introductory discount on any ISK buying they may do through Iskbank. Just enter the coupon code "solidjournalism" (without quote marks, obviously) and you'll be entitled to a one time only 25% discount.
All Eve Tribune advertisements will also be replaced with new, custom designed, Iskbank.com advertisements.
Think of Iskbank as your new partner in news and savings.
Sincerely, The Eve Tribune Editorial board April 1st, 2011. Moscow.
